Night Must Fall a Play in Three Acts edition by Emlyn Williams Literature Fiction eBooks
Montgomery & Russel played their parts well. This author expores some psychological nuances that charm the mind. Some parts give away the silly conventions in early movies. But the characters remind me of Hitchcock's style only better. No wonder Montgomery wanted the part. Best role I have seen him in. His "baby face" makes him all the more lethal. English civility and social mannerisms remind us of how society has changed today. The detective seems incompetent in the beginning and subtly professional in the end.
Note that three servants in a small home with only one dependent still part of the Victorian Age and no electricity in house except the phone? Looking forward to the free Kindle.

Night Must Fall a Play in Three Acts edition by Emlyn Williams Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I forgot how much fun reading a play can be. Exciting from the first page to the last. Danny is the most charming creep.
I read this play because I'm looking for a fun mystery to produce. What struck me is that it seemed funny in many parts. I know that's intended some of the time...perhaps most of the time. But when I read reviews of the play (it's not produced too much anymore) there was no mention of humor. I'm going to watch the movie but it looks like it's serious as a heart attack. And I don't think it works well that way. But I'll see. And the ending is just a little cheesy/hokey. It would be a challenge to stage and not get eye rolls and laughs where you don't want them.
This is a very old play but it holds up nicely. It can be as scary as you want it to be!
